It is easy to feel powerless when you look at the problems in the world.
Yet this incredible act of kindness proves we can do more than we think.
Gemma and I were listening to this podcast in the car at the weekend. And to be honest we had tears running down our faces for nearly the whole episode.
It is the story of a family who took a homeless man in for Christmas.
He ended up living with them for 40 years.
It is just such a brilliant example of helping someone else.
Of seeing the human being rather than the situation.
It hit me hard because I spend a lot of time thinking about how I can help people. But if I am being totally honest, I don’t always act on it.
I get stuck in my head, hesitate, or move on to something pressing.
And as a result, I find myself often reflecting on the positive impact I want to have but that I haven't acted upon.
This story brought it home to me. There's a big gap between having good intentions and doing something.
Closing that gap is how I can feel more purposeful and aligned to what I should be doing. And that's something I will take forward from today, and try to do better.
It doesn't mean we all need to take someone in for forty years, or even for a night. But it there is a lot one can do, between nothing at all, and that.
I encourage you to have a listen. It will be good for your soul.
Then let me know what you think and help spread the word.
