My business partner (Ed) and I had to go for a walk last week.
Not because there was a crisis, or we had to write a 5 year plan, or we had to go somewhere.
But because we’ve been building a business for 16 years, and sometimes, you just need to be two mates on a hill.
We live is such a busy world. Full of video calls and endless meetings.
It’s easy to view those around you, whether it’s your partner, peers or the team, as people you only interact with to get things done.
But the truth of the matter is, you need to spend time together as two people, side-by-side rather than across a table, and connect as human beings.
I don’t care what people say, you can’t separate professional and personal.
It all mixes together. Trust and friendship is built in moments like this.
It’s how I’ve always treated my clients as well.
It’s not about the contract, it’s about the people.
Let me know if you ever want to go for a walk and talk.
The coffee’s on me.
